What a day!

Aadam -- 4 years old
Tashreeq --- 14 years old

Everyday with these two boys is 'What a day'! Today was no different from any other day except that it was freezing cold this morning and Aadam came running in at 6:15 from the car with no shoes on and headed straight for the computer!. Ridwaan immediately got him dressed warmly and so started the day, meanwhile Tashreeq change his batteries and was sorely tempted to check Facebook messages BUT it was 6:30 am and had to leave or miss his ride to school.

Left home at 7:45am for Aadam's school (25km away). No extra children today as Abdul Kader was sick. So bravely took an alternative route.  Morning traffic and roadblocks in Lansdown Road, turned into Hanover Park but there too "roadblock". Can't blame the traffic department (but that time of the morning when people are on their way to work and school), Many  illegal taxies and unlicenced cars.  Fortunately, I got through without being stopped. Singing along with Aadam to keep him from being naughty after he got bored with the books he brought along. Long drive in traffic and listening to my Favourite Bollywood songs helps. Arrive at school intact at 8:25am. Now this is a record. I normally arrive just after 8:30am and I cant speed for fear of speed traps and our safety as everyone is rushing and in a hurry.

Tashreeq safely at school before 8:00am as school starts at 7:50am. We are all in a frenzy since Tuesday as Tashreeq mislaid his FM System (R20,000 approx). Tashreeq is worried and we are all stressed. Yesterday, Wednesday, he looked all over and in each and every class room. To no avail as the FM just did not surface. Came home worried and got undressed, started weeding the plants and packed his clothes right and basically just tried to please me. The secretary at school put up a notice at school. However, there was one classroom that was locked and Tashreeq could not check unless the teacher unlocked the door.

So the day passes as any other day. I brought Aadam home from school at 1:30pm. I am beyond stressing as I now have to wait for Tashreeq to get home. Finally it is 4:00pm and Tashreeq's ride pulls up outside. Tashreeq gets out of the van and his smile can be seen a mile away. Tashreeq say, ' Ma, I found my FM System in the EMS class. The teacher picked it up and put it away.' What a relief !! What a day !!
